How often should you buy new pillows and duvet?
According to experts, you should update your duvet every 5 years, and your pillows every 1 to 2 years. Alternatively, you should update your duvet when it starts to feel limp, the filling isn’t as evenly distributed across the duvet, or the filling starts to come through the casing.
Can old duvets and pillows be recycled?
Duvets and pillows are generally not recyclable and should be disposed of in a waste bin or taken to a recycling centre. However, there are some animal charities that may be able to use these items for bedding - you can check locally for this type of information. Some exceptions to this include Bamboo and 100% cotton fill pillows and duvets, which are biodegradable.
How often should you wash your pillows and duvet?
If your pillows can be washed, then experts recommend washing them at least twice a year. If you eat in bed, have pets, or sweat a lot, then you should even wash your pillows quarterly.
